The See You in Marfa EP is a collaborative effort with English guitarist/songwriter/producer, Marty Willson-Piper. Marty spent over 30 years in the Australian band, the Church. During the Fall of 2018 Salim assembled his long-time band of John Dufilho (Deathray Davies/Apples in Stereo), Joe Reyes (Buttercup), Richard Martin (Shibboleth) and Jason Garner (Polyphonic Spree) for the first time since 2011's Hit Parade. Along with Marty, co-producing and playing guitar, the group of six musicians cut an album and a half's worth of songs in a Nashville studio called Welcome to 1979. Plans to release a full length album of the material fell through when the Covid pandemic struck in March of 2020 and forced Marty to cancel plans to come to the United States and tour with Salim. Salim ended up indefinitely shelving the album, A Nuclear Winter. The five song See You in Marfa EP includes bonus material from the Nashville sessions as well as "Hold on to the Night," a song Salim and Marty wrote together.

hold on to the night before you let in the day hold on to the night before you give it away so many things that you can do why go to sleep when the skies’ full of jewels? the music’s flowing just like wine have a good time! before you let in the day hold on to the night before you give it away hold on to the night before you let in the day you wanna dance? then go ahead! all your big plans can go to bed if the cops show up i bet they’d stay to join the fun before it goes away you can read or paint and laugh have some ice cream in the bath lay on your pillow, close your eyes you’ve had some fun and now you’re tired so wake up, wake up! before you let in the day here comes another day here comes another day wake up, work, no play good luck keeping the bills at bay here comes another day hold on to the night!

i don’t really know what i’m doing today so how can i make a promise to you girl that i wouldn’t have to break? i’m just trying to get by in the here and now so don’t rely on me to give you anything in the future you might need love’s a promise we make, love’s a promise we make swimming in a sea with billions of people who long, long to be living with their love in perfect harmony straddling, battling to not plunge in to the fiery pit below we all crave safety but we need the fall to grow love’s a promise we make love’s a promise we make love’s a promise i might break i need a leap a faith, i need a leap of faith so i’m just gonna do what i’m gonna do and i hope i don’t hurt you in the end maybe you’ll see my aim was true these days and nights we’ve spent together are something that i won’t, i won’t forget and you know if you left you'd be the one i’m gonna miss love’s a promise we make love’s a promise we all make love’s a promise i might break i need a leap a faith, i need a leap of faith

hate the waiting from the minute you wake up head like a anvil feel like you’ve been drugged eyes squint as you face the sun a new day ahead another one begun hate the waiting hate what you’ve become make some coffee, brew it black as your mood the sound of silence permeates your room laughter’s a thing that lives only in the past the memories play they flew by so fast don't you hate the waiting when you feel like that? the darkness, rolls in like the clouds nothing can stop it if you try to fight the world, the world will always win so you’d better keep that hate under your chin hate the waiting from your head to your toes there’s a sadness in your eyes and a chill in your bones it won’t feel better ‘til you're feeling loved again i know that each smile ‘til then is only just pretend ‘cause i hate the waiting from the moment it begins and i’m waiting through this hating ‘til it ends
